Hey all!
Speed Dating is going swimmingly (fingers crossed that continues).
Last week I make it so that the UI changes when the player completes a lap, but I still could hardly tell when exactly I was crossing the finish line. This is partially because the finish line is way too faint, but we'll fix that when we move to a non-test track.
In order to make sure there is enough player feedback, there are now messages that say how many laps the player has left whenever they complete a lap.
It's starting to look and feel more like a real racing game. Worry not, the dating parts are coming soon.
The more exciting thing added this week is power-ups! Well, power-up. Singular. But there are, of course, more to come.
Remember that these power-ups aren't gained from item blocks, but instead by being close enough to another racer for a certain amount of time. The reason for this to give a greater emphasis on the other racers, which is where the emphasis should be to support the dating elements.
